It stars Judy Ann Santos and Sarah Geronimo teaming up for the first time as sisters in the movie. In the film, their family runs a firecracker business. It also stars Luis Manzano, Gina Pareño, and is directed by Wenn Deramas. “Hating Kapatid” is just one of the offerings of Viva Films this 2010.

In Hating Kapatid movie, Judy Ann Santos plays the role of Maria Rica while Sarah Geronimo plays the role of the younger sister, Maria Cecilia. Both of them are daughters of public school teachers turned OFW, Ms. Cherry Pie Picache and Al Tantay. When their parents left them in the care of their Lola Gerty (Ms. Gina Pareño), Rica and Cecilia are left with a family business of firecrakers in Bocaue, Bulacan. The two girls are inseparable. Rica takes her role as the big sister seriously, she even broke up with her boyfriend, Bong (JC DeVera), and vowing to devote her life taking care of her younger sister, Cecilia when the latter is hurt in a minor accident in their firecraker store.

Ten years come to pass and their parents return home. The whole family moves to Manila. Rica, though an accounting major graduate, chooses to sell jewelry instead of getting a professional job. Cecilia, on the other hand, works as a sales clerk in a video store and a promodizer of magic sing. She meets Edsel (Luis Manzano), an issurance sales agent while doing her job in a mall. Rica, sensing that the two are attracted to each other tries hard to keep them apart. Cecilia, wanting to make her sister Rica happy, look for Bong, but the result is the exact opposite. Rica feels betrayed, especially when she learns that her baby sister is already in a relationship. Rica packs her things and left their house. Now, it’s Cecilia who has to find a way to fix their sibling problems.

I’ll Be There Movie

Star Cinema has a Father’s Day offering entitled I’ll Be There starring KC Concepcion, Jericho Rosales and Gabby Concepcion.

For the first time in so many years, we will see a new Pinoy (tagalog) movie starring Gabby Concepcion and KC Concepcion with Jericho Rosales. This 2010 movie is a Star Cinema offering and is titled, I’ll Be There. The title was based in the song originally sung and performed by Martin Nieverra

I’ll Be There is a story about forgiveness, acceptance and unconditional love between a father and his daughter. The movie is directed by Maryo J. delos Reyes.

Cinco Movie

“Cinco” is the first ever Philippine movie with five different 20-minute stories or episodes in it.

It’s produced by Star Cinema and it stars some of today’s hottest Kapamilya.

Episode 1 is entitled “Braso” and features Gigger Boys members Robi Domingo, AJ Perez and Sam Concepcion (as fraternity recruits) with a strong support from Baron Geisler and Kristel Moreno. It’s directed by Frasco Mortiz. It seems like the three are shirtless most of the time in the film as seen in the trailer and on the poster.

Jodi Sta. Maria-Lacson topbills Episode 2: Paa, directed by Enrico Santos. Also in cast are Barbie Sabino (young Bea Alonzo in “Magkaribal”) and Joy Viado.

Box-office director Cathy Garcia-Molina directs the episode entitled “Puso” which is about “gayuma”. Pokwang and Zanjoe Marudo lead the cast. And since Pokwang is part of it, expect some lil funny scenes in it. Also stars Bangs Garcia and Maloue De Guzman.

Rayver Cruz and Maja Salvador pair up anew in the 4th Episode called “Mata” directed by Ato Bautista. Can we call them the “Horror Prince and Princess”? The two starred together in horror/fantasy/thriller programs like “Spirits” and “Nginiiig”. Last year, they both starred in the MMFF entry “Shake, Rattle & Roll XI” but in separate episodes.

Mariel Rodriguez is goin’ solo (no leading man) in “Mukha”, Cinco’s 4th episode helmed by Nick Olanka. Supporting cast includes Jayson Gainza, Ketchup Eusebio, Arnold Reyes and Nanding Josef.

“Cinco” will be shown nationwide on July 14, 2010 with a grand premiere night on the 13th at SM Megamall Cinema 10.

The Red Shoes

Every woman has a secret love affair with red shoes. Girls of all ages, shapes and sizes own at least one red pair.

In 1986, in the evening of the People Power Revolution in the Philippines, 10-year-old Lucas Munozca catches sight of the First Lady’s 3000 pairs of shoes at the Presidential Palace and decides to steal a pair of red shoes.

That’s how the excitement begins. The battle of the networks sizzles in a love-able way as GMA prime timer Marvin Agustin stars as Lucas who falls in love with tall, sosyal Bettina, played by ABS-CBN luminary Nikki Gil. Marvin and Nikki loved the script so much; they made time to match their schedules with each other. Together they take the audience on a merry chase of tumbling emotions and silly notions. It is Marvin’s and Nikki’s first pairing and Nikki Gil’s first ever starring role.

“The Red Shoes” is a love story, plain and simple, but one set against an intriguing chapter of Philippine history, produced by Unitel, the group that made the box office hit “Crying Ladies” and “Santa Santita.”

Unitel President and CEO Tony Gloria was instantly drawn to the story when Marvin Agustin and Director Raul Jorolan presented it to him. He wasted no time in getting the wheels turning to make the project a reality.

“The story unfolds through three decades as we tell Lucas’ story,” Jorolan lets on. “Young, resolute and in love, there is nothing that will stop him from pursuing his goals – not even committing an act amidst the chaos and confusion of the 1986 People Power revolution – all in the name of love.”

Working Girls

Dr. Cleo Carrillo (Eula Valdez) is a famous dermatologist, whose roster of high-profile clients include beauty queen turned society empress Marilou Cobarrubias (Ruffa Gutierrez) and socialite Betchay Magbutay-Cavendish (Carmi Martin). Cleo is married to a cardiologist, Dr. Vincent Carrillo. But her success comes with zealous detractors and nasty lawsuits, something which Marilou can relate to.
Marilou is widowed by her aged and ultra-rich husband, and her daughter-in-law, Amanda dela Vega, has arranged that she gets nothing except a small condo unit and a business on the verge of bankruptcy. Now, Marilou has to learn to get by on her own, something which her cousin, Tere Villanueva (Iza Calzado), has been doing since she was young. Tere works as a nurse, and becomes particularly close to an old woman named Amelia Marcelino. Tere sees herself in the dying woman and fears that she too might end up alone since she has been traumatized by one great love, Leon. But as if fate is teasing her, Tere is assigned to watch over a patient who happens to be Leon’s wife.
Tere’s best friend, Ada Villanueva (Jennylyn Mercado) is also suffering from heartache and regret for not accepting the marriage proposal of Jonathan, the father of her child. And now Jonathan is engaged to someone else. As an Executive Producer at a television network, Ada is able to raise her son, but barely has time to personally take care of him.
Children are the least of worries of Dara dela Vega (Bianca King). This spoiled daughter of Amanda is being given the cold shoulder at the same TV network where Ada works. Her arrogance for having studied in the US irks even the host of the show where she is a Junior Production Assistant. Aside from Ada, the only person who treats her nicely is Bogey, the cameraman, who advises her to adjust to the ways of her co-workers.
Jonathan’s friend in the Call Center, Tobz, is seeing an ambitious girl who claims that she is a model. Wendy Casuga (Cristine Reyes) idolizes beauty queens who become socialites, just like Marilou Cobarrubias. She frequents the so called go-sees for casting of television commercials and television shows, and is sometimes accepted as an “extra.” Unknown to Tobz, Wendy is not the least serious with him. She is after men who are rich, but insists that she will not get involved with married men, unlike her best friend Baby, who is having an affair with Melvin Cabigting.
Melvin is married to Paula Cabigting (Eugene Domingo). Paula is hardworking, trying out every kind of business she can think of, while Melvin is doing nothing since he got back from the US, having been affected by the recession. Paula cannot even rely on Melvin to drive for her to deliver goods to her clients that she still has to hire a service vehicles owned by a bachelor, Nelson Obleta. Thus begins another complicated relationship.
Each with their own troubles, these Working Girls just try to belong and be loved.

Miss you like crazy

“Miss You Like Crazy” reunites the box-office tandem of John Lloyd Cruz, Bea Alonzo and Director Cathy Garcia-Molina. Their first film “One More Chance” was the biggest hit in 2007 giving John Lloyd his first box office king title and Bea her first box office queen title.
