His uncompromising stand wins him admirers, but it also earns him enemies who will stop at nothing just to see him fall.

He is Edward Hagedorn, public servant, social and environmental activitist, mayor of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

Due to their prominence and influence, they became major deterrents to full implementation of President Marcos’ Martial Law. Marcos orders the arrest of all his opponents and critics, among them members of the Lopez and Osmeña clans. Unable to arrest their fathers, who are abroad, Marcos arrests the sons and accuses them of plotting to assassinate him.

For the next five years there are many attempts, through diplomacy and negotiation, to release Geny and Serge. The Lopez family nearly agrees to turn over their vast empire to Marcos. Suffering and closely gaurded in Fort Bonifacio maximum-security prison, Geny and Serge decide to launch a hunger strike to get media attention and to embarrass the government. The hunger strike, however, fails to move their jailers. In a final attempt for freedom in 1977, Geny and Serge fuse their energies and strategies for their last option–escape.
